HORSES FOR COURSES
Apparently Mr AV. J. Fergus' A luniint., by Vaals —Lomint, has a special liking lor the Ellcrslie cour.se, more especially perhaps when it j.s in its winter state. On June sth last he was victorious in the York Handicap of one mile in a very big field. In July he was a contestant at the Wellington meeting but failed to handle the puggy clay going. On Saturday last he made amends lor his Trcnthain failure by winning the Jellieoe Handicap at the Pakuranga Hunt fixture from Royal Bachelor, Black Musk and eleven other competitors. It is worthy of note that the second and third horses were representatives of who upheld their name both for gameness and consistency.
