MANY WHAKATANE APPLICANTS MEETING URGENT CASES "There is stil] a lengthy waiting list for houses in Whakatane, there being now seventy to eighty unsatisfied applications at the moment. Tiic committee is doing its best to meet the urgent cases as far as possible, taking into account the surrounding circumstances, types of houses available in relation to family and all other factors of importance '" says a letter to Mr A. G. Hultquist. M.P. from the Minister of Housing. "On account of the necessity for reviewing all cases carefully before its decisions are reached, the committee is unable to indicate in advance Avlien any particular application is likely to be successful. Eac'i application is carefully reviewed on its merits along with the claims of other applicants. ''In the meantime any applicant is recommended to report any new circumstances a fleeting the urgency of their case direct to the Branch Office of the Corporation at Hamilton which Avill arrange for the information to be conveyed direct to the» committee following a.nv further investigation which may be necessary'* "Your remarks as to the urgent need of new homes, in Whakatane ai\3 noted, and I am referring this as_ pect of the matter to the Director of Housing for his consideration,'* the Minister adds. '
