THE GOLF SEASON

QUE EX CARNIVAL EFFORT BY GOLFERS An open day was given by the Whaaktane Golf Club at the week end in aid of the Queen Carnival. Seventy players participated ia mixed foursome, men's ladies' fourball and putting competitions and a most successful and enjoyable day was spent. The fcom_ petitions resulted as follows: Mixed foursomes: Miss Straclian and Searing 68 net. Men's fourball: R. and P. Horrocks 8' upLadies' fourball: Mrs Bullard and Mrs Dewar 3 up. Men's putting: B. S. Barry 33. Ladies' putting: Mrs Bullard 35. In addition to the above, -lunch and afternoon te a takings added considerably to the funds. Trophies were donated by the Whalcatane Golf Club. The thanks of the carnival committee and the golf club are clue to all who attended and helped to make the function such a success.
