AUGUST MEETING A LARGE ONE The August meeting of the Wha-» katane Women's Institute at which there was a very large attendance was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday. Delegates for the forthcoming council meeting were appointed, Mesdames Lysaght and Wheeler being chosen. It was decided to hold an Apron Afternoon, funds to be devoted to the building fund; to which eacli member was asked to bring an apron to cost not more than 2s Gd. Three new members were elected. Then followed a highly instructive demonstration by Mr Stewart of the Singer Sewing Machine Company or the uses of the various parts of the sewing machine •• Organised games were played by way of relaxation,, the Balloon Race being won by Mrs Sims. Results of competitions were announced as follows: Best flower, Mrs Mclsaacs. Marmalade, Mrs Armstrong. The afternoon closed with dancing which lightened the hearts and warmed the feet of the members.
