LYCEUM CLUB

A VARIED EVENING Varied and different items were staged at the Lyceum Club on Monday evening last. A physical culture display was given by a team from the physical culture class under the direction of Mrs Appleby. The rhythmic exercises done t6 music w?r'e most effective and much appreciated. Those in the display were Ales., dames C. Thomas Riddell, S. Annstrong, Mollgaard, P. Sisam and Hooper. A short address on health nnd beauty as regards diet, exercise raid make-up was given by Mrs Appleby. Afterwards Mrs Appleby showed cosmetic make_up on different types as models, each finished model being greeted with applause by the on. lookers. A one-act play was also staged called "Rory Aforesaid." The cast was: Rorv, Mrs E. Armstrong; Mrs J. Conolly: Lawyer, Miss Howell; Court Officer, Airs Pearse; MeCallum Mrs Littlejohn; Mrs McLean, Miss Greenup. Among the audience were Mesdames B. S. Barry, Sumner F. Sumner, Brabant (Senr), Fletcher.Cole, R. Boon, H. Gartshore, -\V. Sullivan, G. Booth, S. Spen.ce, Spring. Donaldson, W. Steel, List, Morice, Keir. Luxton Hopkirk (Te Teko), Donahy (Oamaru). Misses M .Dell, M. Whita side, F. Sloane, J. Sullivan. Mullin D. Boon, B. Allen A. Clarke, Hard- ' 9 7 ing. Supper was served at the end of the evening.
