BEFORE THEIR WEDDING

GIFTS FOR TE PUKE COUPLE On Saturday evening last a very large number of friends gathered in, the Parish Hall. Te Puke, to extend good wishes to a popular young couple, Miss Pauline Jackson and Mr H. Akeroyd, formerly of Whakatane, who are to be married shortly. During the evening the DeputySuperintendent of the Te Puke Firei Brigade, Mr H. Smithy spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Akeroyd ? referring to the great help he had been to thd fire brigade, and trusted that although lie was soon to enter the mar- 1 ried state, he would still remain an active member of the brigade. Qm behalf of those present he then presented Mr Akeroyd with a cheque# expressing the wish that his future* would be a happy and prosperous one Mr H. Smith and Mr B. Nicholls also spoke on behalf of the thanking them sincerely for assisting to make the evening such a success. Miss Jackson was the recipient of numerous gifts from th e ladies.
