INCREASE NEXT YEAR The area lo be planted in, maize in the Gisborne district during the com ing season is expected to be increased by about 500 acres as a result of the improved marketing arrangements promised by the Internal Marketing Department. If expectations are realised next sea-ovPs crop should vield about 10,000 sacks more than that which is at present being harvested. This estimate was made at a meeting of the Poverty Bay Maize Growers' Association. The crop now being cribbed was estimated to produce from 25. 000 to 30,000 sacks, and, if growers respond as they have promised, next season's yield should reach 35,000 or 40,000 sacks, ,
