POWER BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING HELD DEVELOPMENT ROUND WHAKATANE Those present at the monthly meeting of the Bay of Plenty electric Power Board at Opotiki on, Tuesday were Messrs W. T. Barrett (Chairman), F. J. Burt, Maxwell, Mitclicll Gault, Sperice and J. W. Sninner. Among other matters the engineer s report contained the information that the 11,000 volt extension along the Tauranga.Whakatane main highway was at present under construction. LINE MAINTENANCE. Further tr'ee cutting has been carried out over section of both Whakatane and Opotiki areas. One 5 k.v.a transformer failed and was replaced. During the above month a total of 23 interruptions occurred on sections of the board's reticulation, 15 of which were on the Opotiki feeder and to date the cause has not been located. Of the balance a number was due to blue gum bark, one caused by a ear .striking a power pole ? and one by lightning. One mile of 11,000 volt line an»l half a mile of 400 volt line is to be constructed on the Whakatane Golf Links Road. The total capital cost will be £353, and the guaranteed re. venue £63, or 17.6 per cent. Further load is also probable in the near future. NATIVE SCHEME, OHOPE. On the Native Scheme, Ohope, 1.6 miles of 11>000 volt lines at a capital cost of £638 will be built. The immediate guaranteed revenue will be £84, equal to 13 per cent and the further revenue in the second season £33. The minimum revenue in two years will be £120, equal to 18.8 per cent. The. above extension is into a block of country on, which development has just commenced, says the and he is informed that as development proceeds a considerable increase in consumers can be expected.
