TOWN BOARD.
A special meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, tho 23rd November, 1872. Present —Captains Tunka (chairman), Tovey, and Norris, and Messrs Samuels and Wrigley.—A letter from Mr R C Jordan, the contractor for beach works, dated the 22nd November, was read, offering to take up and re-lay drains in Hamilton street, to lay down earthenware pipes, and put down kerbing, and cover road with one inch sand or shell; provided the Board waive the three inch sand or shell as per specification.—Proposed by Mr Samuels, seconded by Captain Tovey, “ That Mr Jordan’s proposition be entertained and accepted, by his putting one inch sand and shell, or shells only.”—With respect to the erection of tho pump, it was decided that an advertisement be inserted calling upon tho public to subscribe the sum of £lO, otherwise the Board would not proceed with the work, not having sufficient funds. —The Engineer was instructed to do whatever was requisite for the proper maintenance of the culvert in Wharf street, and the approach to the wharf from such street, and also to form cesspools as required to meet Jordan’s contract.
