TAURANGA HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

A meeting of the trustees of the Tauranga Highway District was held on Friday afternoon, at 3 pm., at the Court House. Present—S. K. Clarke, Esq. (chairman), Captain Skcet, Messrs Campney, Craig, and Kirk. The Chairman read a letter from the Provincial Secretary, enclosing a copy of a memorial forwarded from certain ratepayers, principally of the town district, asking that a considerable portion of the country district should bo taken off and added to the town. The trustees did not consider there were any legitimate reasons given for the alteration, and therefore could not recommend any change. The honorary secretary was authorised to call for tenders for certain repairs to be made to the G-ate Pa Hoad, and also to the Pye’e Pa Road, near Te Ranga. Mr Craig drew the attention of the Board to the state of a piece of road at Otumaitai. The Board decided that a sum of £3 should be expended upon the same. The Treasurer was authorised to pay an account for labour and another for printing. [The above was “ crowded out” of our last.— Ed.l
