ONE-MAN BUSINESS

MILITARY SERVICE

APPEAL BOARD COMMENT

"I don't think it is the intention of the Legislature to close up a oneman business and send a man into camp. That kind of thing can be overdone." said Mr. A. M. Samuel, a member of the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board, when a hairdresser appeared before the board this morning, and appealed for exemption from military service. The reservist, whose medical classification was Grade 11., said he had endeavoured to dispose of his business, but without success.

Mr. Samuel referred to the necessity for hairdressers, and said that some men in the business were unable to function because they could not get sufficient staff.

The appeal was adjourned sine die on condition that the reservist joined the Home Guard.
