RETURN TO SEA
RETIRED NAVAL COMMANDER
After being ashore since the last war, Commander B. L. Hewitt, 0.8. E., R.N. (retired), has returned to sea at the age of 60, as fourth officer of a merchant ship.
Commander Hewitt was born in England and was stationed in New Zealand before the last war. He served at West Africa and Gibraltar and holds the Boxer Rising medal as well as an Italian Order and several other medals.
President of the ex-Royal Naval Men s Association, Commander Hewitt is well known in Auckland. He is a director of L. D. Nathan and Company, Limited, a committee member of the Northern Club, and a member of the Officers' Club. Commander Hewitt married Miss R. Nathan, of Auckland, in 1914 and has two sons.
