AWARD AND PROMOTIONS

SQUADRON-LEADER MISSING

The D.F.C. has been awarded Pilot-Officer Bruce Hamilton Hay, according to advice received by his mother, Mrs. B. A*. Hay, of 88, Remuera Road. Pilot-Officer Hay is a member of a night fighter squadron flying Hurricanes, and has taken part in many night raids over enemyoccupied territories. He destroyed two German aircraft with one burst of fire last June. Educated at the Vauxhall School a?nd Takapuna Grammar School, he is a keen Rugby footballer and cricketer, having plaved overseas for Air Force teams. Advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Miller, of Kiwitahi, that their son. Flight-Lieutenant H. H. J. Miller. D.F.C., has been promoted to the rank of squadronleader. He was educated at the Morrinsville School, and Auckland University College, where he took an active part in football and other sports. He was selected for a short service commission in the Royal Air Force in 1939, and was awarded the D.F.C. in June of last year, after completing thirty operational flights.

Mr. and Mr% L. J. Yerry. of Queen Mary Avenue, Epsom, have received advice that their eldest son, PilotOfficer Brian Yerry. has been promoted to flying offtcer. He was educated at the Warkworth District High School and Auckland Grammar School, and left in March. 1941, for Canada, where he completed his training, and received a commission. He went to Great Britain, and has taken part in many x-aids on the Continent.

Advice has been received that acting-Squadron-Leader A". A. Pedersen is missing on air operations. He attended school in the King Country and also attended the Remuera School and the Seddon Memorial Technical College. On leaving New Zealand in 1938, he joined the R.AJ*.
