PETROL COUPON
POSITION OF MOTORISTS
"The main point as the motorist sees it is that those who did not use coupon No. 13 when issued are now entitled to only half of it," said a representative of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association this morning in commenting upon the announcement of the Minister of Supply that coupon No. 13, redeemable at half its face value, would be the petrol allocation for this month. "We had anticipated," he said, "that, when it released No. 13, the Government would make it available for the full face value because of the fact that some people had already used it and had had full value for it. The coupon was legal tender until December S. The Government then allowed No. 11 coupon to go on until December 13. after which all coupons were cut out." The association, it was stated, felt that it was essential that the same attitude should be adopted as in Australia, namely that a demand should be made for a sufficient basic ration to keep vehicles mobile and on the road. That, it was thought, had been admitted by all concerned. \ — .
