THREE SENTENCED
MAORIS IN POLICE COURT
Two Maoris, Henry Matthews, aged 21, and Reuben Te Whaiti Repia, aged 21 faced Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Police Court to-day, the former being charged with unlawfully converting four motor cars to his own use, while Repia was jointly charged with Matthews on three counts. Matthews alone was further charged with theft of a suit, pair of gloves, and a pair of shoes, of a total value of £10 5/ and an overcoat and other articles valued at £11.
Also placed in the dock with the two accused was Francis Patrick G yynn, a labourer of 19, who adreceiving an overcoat valued at £10 10/, well knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained. Jhe three accused pleaded guilty. Matthews and Repia were each sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Gwynn was sentenced to six weeks imprisonment.
