MEETING TO-DAY

POLITICAL LEADERS

(0.C.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Holland, accepting an invitation by the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, to discuss proposals published for closer co-operation between the Government and National party in the interests of the war effort, will interview Mr. Fraser late this afternoon. There was a meeting of the executive of the National party here today, but it was ascertained that this was called prior to developments which the leaders propose to discuss and had no direct bearing on the interview. As for likely developments, the present attitude of the National party to the proposals has been clearly defined. Therefore much appears to depend on what the Prime Minister may further suggest in the hope of overcoming the deadlock.
