REWARD SUGGESTED
DINGHY LOCKERS DAMAGED A suggestion that a reward up to £10 should be offered for information leading to the identification of vandals who recently smashed open dinghy lockers at Hobson Bay was made at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board by Mr. H. R. Mackenzie. "It is clear that a gang of larrikins is responsible for the damage done to the board's property," he said. "The board should take into consideration the finding of some solution apart from the police," said Mr. J. H. Frater. He reminded members that there had been vandalism at the dressing sheds at Okahu Bay some months ago. "It is most extraordinary that the board's property, which is the people's property, should be damaged by the people themselves," said the chairman, Mr. Hendry Luke. "It is deplorable that in our midst are young vandals who will smash up everything they can see within a stone's throw." The remedy was left in the hands of the works committee.
