Labour President's View Of
America's Plight.
VITAL TO U.S. SECURITY.
(Reed. 1 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Sept. 25.
Mr. William Green, president of the American Federation of Labour, addressing the American Legion convention, said American people feel that Britain's victory is vital for the security of the United States. For that reason, it would seem logical for Americans to extend to Britain and her heroic army and navy all the support possible short of war. President Roosevelt" has called up 36,700 additional National Guard, including Hawa&in and Puerto Rican unite, for a year's training, beginning on October 15. The War Department has awarded contracts totalling 171,740,000 dollars to four concerns for aircraft and aeroengines.
