NORTHCOTE BOROUGH.
The Northcote Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor. Mr. R. Martin, presiding. Orphanages Appeal.—lt was decided not to make a donation to the Auckland orphanages appeal as the council had given permission for a street collection in the borough. Water Bore.—A water bore had been sunk on a new property to a depth oi 218 feet. This will be extended when further piping is secured. Emergency Precautions Scheme.—ln discussing the Auckland Metropolitan District Emergency Scheme the council, while desirous of co-operating a different position from local bodies in the metropolitan area, and that authority should be vested in the local district wardens to deal with certain emergencies should they arise.
