FAST GALLOPS.
SEVERAL IMPRESSIVE. ACTIVITY AT TE RAPA. HAMILTON, this day. The going on the course proper 60ft out was in splendid order for galloping at Te Rapa this morning, when semi-final trials for Ohinemuri took place under pleasant conditions. Several useful efforts were recorded, the best of the morning being those of Laughing Fox, Olympus, Young Paddon, Lornacre, Foxeen and Acreman. Laughing Fox (Barties) and Olympus (Ramsay) were associated over five furlongs, running to the half mile in 53 1-Se and traversing the full distance in 1.7 1-5. It was a useful effort on the part of both horeea, who are to contest engagements at Paeroa. Laughing Fox is to open hie three-year-old career in the Maiden Handicap on Saturday and it will be interesting to note how he shapes. Olyinpus, improved by his race at Avondale, is not without prospecte in the open sprint. Beau Repaire and Marshall Hall, who. have taken mo harm from Avondale exertion*, were restricted to strong pace work over a .round. Young Paddon (Mclnally) was a length in front of Lornacre (Ozanne) over the deciding stages of six furlonge in 1.21 3-5. They ran their initial three furlonge in 38%e, half a mile in 53 4-ss, and five in 1.7 1-5. While Young Paddon galloped with his customary brilliance, Lornacre was not disgraced, as he is not a good track worker, ana on tne way he ehaped this morning he should riot be long in reaching hie best. Cape Egmont (Gollop) and Forest Bridge (Long) ran five furlonge in 1.11 4-5, their best half mile in 56%5. Raceline (Gollop), under a strong hold in the early stages, was finishing on to complete a round in 2.14. He looks in good order for racing at Paeroa. Gay Rosette I (Long), Calorie (Eneor) and Glen Bevan I (Mclnally) were practically on terms at | ithe completion of half a mile in 53 2-ss. They ran their first three furlonge in 38s and all executed their work pleasingly. Mio Lume (Hain) traversed a round in 2.10 4-5, hie first half in 56 4-ss. Cafehot, Son of the Soil and Etcetera negotiated six furlonge in 1.24%. A smart effort over three furlongs was credited to Foxeen and Acreman (McKenzie), who clocked 37 4-5s for the distance. Sunny Downs (Jones), Cappy (Brown), Gael (Howard), Tooley Street (McGregor) and Joy Vaals (Winder) ran seven furlonge in 1.36, Marie's Choice (Gollop) five in 1.8%, Kingcraft (Goulebro) three in 41s Karatoki (Long) and Forest Acre (Gollop) five in 1.8 4-ss—their first half in 54 1-59. , Midland (Curran) gave a dashing exhibition over five flights of hurdles.
