SMART EFFORTS.
LOVAALS SPRINTS WELL. TRAINING AT TAKANINL With the tract conditions at Takanini this morning greatly improved, there was some interesting work on the middle grass, on which the poles were 20ft out. Some smart efforts"- were recorded, the best being those of Sir Lysander, Lovaals, River Plate, Queen City, Glen Connell, Grandora, Orelio and Arvakur. The best of the morning over five furlongs was that by Lovaals (Spinley), who hit out stylishly to complete her task in 1.4. Orelio (Smith) was always travelling better than Arvakur (Jackson) over the same ground in 1.4 2-5. Orelio worked attractively. Glen Connell (Cleaver) completed his task over a similar distance in 1.4 3-ss, doing his work well. Sir Lysander (Parsons) showed fine dash over half a mile in 51s, a task which Grandora. (Cleaver) completed in 51 2-5s without being unduly bustled. The two-year-old, River Plate (Brown), pleased while running half a mile with Heroic Star (Coker) in 51 3-ss, Gaymies (Parsons) running the last four of five furlongs in 52 3-se. Lady Pay (Parsons) worked well to complete her task in 525. Queen City (Inglis) pulled up well after running three furlongs in 37 4-ss. She has to all appearances made a quick recovery from her recent injury. Borak (McMinn) was just in front of Nettarion (Jackson) at the conclusion of three furlongs in 38s. Kcronn (Mclnally) and Payette (Spinley) were also responsible for a nice effort in recording 38s. Flood Tide (Coleinan) ran seven furlongs in 1.33, Valamito (Jackson) and Te Kawiti (Coker) being on terms at the end of a similar task, which took them 1.33 1-5.
Small Boy (Burgees) and Searcher (Quedley) gave a safe display over four fences, British Sovereign (Burgess) being responsible for a more impressive effort for a similar task. Other gallops were:—Three furlongs: Miee Gay (Mclnally) and Silver Clarion (Parsons), 39 3-ss; Greek March (Smith) and Cambria (Curwen), 38 2-ss; Princess Val (Coleman) covered the last three of five in 40s; Manuroa (Coleman), 40b; Eagle Hawk (Beguely), 43 3-ss; Hogarth (Mclnally), 40s. Four Furlongs.—The Dozer (Gray) and Cillas (Beguely), 55 2-5; Dinki Di (Beguely) and Court Favourite (Gray), 545; Full Hand (Curwen) and Cornieh (Smith). 53 4-ss; Gamos (Coker), 54 l-ss; Verus (McMinn), 58s; Foxola (Walters), 58 3-ss. Five Furlongs.—Mysito (Smith) and Sunola (Curwen). 1.6 3-5; Sea Law (McMinn) and High Sea (Jackson), 1.8; Silver Quex (Beguely) and Namara (Gray), 1.6; Heneiti (Melnally) and Palustre (Parsons), 1.5 2-5. Six Furlongs.—lnver (Coleman), 1.19 3-5. Seven Furlongs.—Hunting Bee (Mclnally), 1.38 2-ss, the last three in 40 2-Se.
Mazir is an unlikely starter in the Poland Cup on Saturday.
