TAKAPUNA BOATING CLUB.
ELECTIOX OF OFFICERS. The 20th annual meeting of the Takapuna Boating Club was held on Wednesday evening In tne clubhouse. Bayswater, the vice-commodore. Mr. F. Thomas, presiding. He welcomed members and briefly reviewed the past season. No less than 37 boats competed in the two classes at the club's regatta. The social side of the club had also been succcssful and helped to build up the club's funds. The chairman referred to the retirement, through indisposition, of Mr. Frank Skerrett. who had acted as hon. caretaker ever since the clubhouse was built. Mr. Thomas paid a .tribute to the commodore. I Mr. R. Fountain, who waa on active service, also a number of members who had joined the forces. | Thanks were tendered to the ladies' committee and retiring officers for their efforts on behalf of the club during the past season. The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory credU on the season's work. . , , A . The following officers were elected for the season 1940-41: Patron. Captain H. K. Sargeant; president. Mr. W. A. Johnston; commodore. Mr. F. Thomas; vice-commodore. Mr. C. F. Thompson; rear-commodore. Mr. N. Matheson; hon. secretary, Mr. O. Mahon; hon. treasurer and clubhouse captain. Mr. C. R. Kirkham: hon. solicitor. Mr. Ralph White; hon. auditor. Mr. Best; committee: Messrs. J. J. Mackay. O. Reid. Massey Thompson, J. Oppsrman, R. S. Bailey. K. Cato. Geoff. Entrlcan. P. Falkner, B. Wilson. E. Buchanan and E. Sinclair. ' . . It was decided to carry on as much on last season's lines as possible. • Votes of thanks to the retiring officers, the ladies' committee and the Press concluded the business.
