GOODWILL FLAG.
GIFT TO AUCKLAND. As an international goodwill gift, Mrs. Clara Adams, of Long Island, New York, who arrived yesterday from San Francisco by the American Clipper, brought a silk American flag, and this afternoon it was handed over to the Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis. The flag was presented to Mrs. Adams, also another for transmission to Australia, by the Congress of American Poets, which had been holding its fifth annual congress at the New York World's Fair. On the flag, the stripes are separate pieces of silk sewn together, and the stars are embroidered on the blue ground. The border is a rich, gold fringe, and attached is a staff, capped with ar. American eagle in gilt metal.
