NOT A SOLDIER.
WRONGLY WORE UNIFORM. LABOURER REMANDED. Drunkenness, and wearing , the uniform of His Majuety e military forces without authority were the charges brought against Edward Henry Leedham Quintal, a labourer of 31, when he appeared in the Police Court before Mr. J. Morling, S.M., this, morning. He was dressed in the familiar khaki battle drees. Quintal pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Calwell said Quintal had been in the army, but had been discharged several days ago. On Saturday, when he was arrested for drunkenness, he eaid his own clothing was at the cleaner's. Quintal maintained that he was entitled to wear the uniform, but inquiry from the military authorities showed that this was not eo. The uniform belonged to another man in the army. "Probably it is just ai* well for - the army that Quintal i« not in it "now," added Mr. Calwell. "I would suggest that he should be kept in custody until he can obtain hie own clothes and hand over the uniform." Upon Quintal stating that he could get his own clothes to-day, the magistrate remanded him until to-morrow morning.
