APPEAL FOR BOOKS.
SUPPLIES FOR THE TROOPS. WELLINGTON, Saturday. Co-operative effort between the Country Library Service, the Libraries' Association and the National Patriotic Boara , , with the backing of the general public, has resulted in spendid provision being made in the way of reading matter for troops under training and when they go overseas. A generous response was made to an appeal some time ago for books and periodicals, but since then these supplies have been drawn on heavily, and another appeal ia being made for suitable literature. Mr. G. T. Aiiey, wlio is in charge of the Country Library Service, says quite 25,000 books and an equal number of periodicals have gone overseas on troopships. In addition, libraries at the three main training camps have been supplied, as well as Air Force training schools and coast-watching stations. The training centre being established at Waiouru will require about 5000 books. —(Press Assn.)
