WAR WORK.
LYCEUM CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. At the annual meeting of the Lyceum Club held in the club lounge last night, an outline of the war work being undertaken by the members was given by the president, Mrs. W. H. Parkes. The club was responsible for stocking the Red Cross shop once in every three months, and had also agreed to provide thf soldiers' suppers at St. Matthew's Welcome Club once every three months. Members of the various circles had undertaken to raise funds to purchase materials for the club Red Cross sewing circle, which met every Wednesday, with Mrs. E. J. Reid and Mrs. A. Stuart Oxley as conveners. Garments which members made for dispatch to the Red Cross were piled on tables and set up in front of the stage. Mr. A. A. Harker, secretary of the Red Cross Society in Auckland, gave a brief account of the work of the society, and the methods of dispatching parcels, and he paid a tribute to the work being carried out by member* or the club. Mrs. Archie Campbell was elected a vice-president, and Mrs. Harold Owers, Mrs. Sidney Goldsmith, Miss P. Lindsay and Mies B. Rapson to the general committee.
