WHAKATANE.
At the monthly meeting of the Harbour Board, the secretary (Mr. Lucas) reported that he had written to the Department asking that Messrs. A. L. Luke and J. W v McPeake be gazetted ae members of the board to represent Rangitaiki and Taneatua respectively. The chairman moved that the board vesflot 24 section, next to Smedley's store, in the Borough Council for the purposes of a Plunket and rest room at the cost of the council, the building to be erected within two years. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Mitchell Mr. Lucas was placed in charge of all departments of the board. It was resolved to-, raise the wharfinger's salary by £5 per annum, and to instruct him to furnish the port returns to the board monthly.
