GOVERNMENT BUSINESS.

SPEEDING UP THE PACE.

CHANCE FOR GAMING BILL.

(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON", Tuesday.

The Government being anxious to get on with the business of the session, Sir Joseph Ward moved to-day, and it was resolved, that on and after Wednesday next, Government business should take precedence on Wednesdays. In the early part of the session Wednesday's sittings are given over to private members' business. . The Prime - Minister gave the House an undertaking that the Gaining Amendment Bill, introduced by Sir George Hunter (Waipawa), would be given an opportunity this session, so ■that the feeling of the House might be tested. Messrs. D. G. Sullivan (Avon), H. G. R. Mason (Auckland Suburbs), and the Leader of the • Opposition urged the Prime Minister to give certain private bills a chance this session. ."Everything will depend on the course of Government business," was the Prime Minister's reply.
