FRANKTON STOCK SALE.
BEEF A LITTLE CHEAPER. DULL SALE FOR SHEEP. . Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their usual weekly J stock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesl day, September 24, as under: —There waf ; a fairly large yarding of beef, and prices • generally were lower. Prime ox sold al 3 equal to 40/ per hundred. Prime cow • and heifer at equal to 36/ to 39/ per [ hundred. Light-weight prime heifers sold i at up to £13 2/6; heavy fat cows to £13; ; medium quality cows and heifers, £7 10/ to £9 15/; runners, to £4 15/. The store cattle yarded were an indifferent lot, ■ excepting a few pens of yearling heifers. Best store cows made up to £7 10/. Medium quality cows £5 10/ to £6 5/; inferior store cows and heifers, £4 to £E 5/; a pen of Hereford steers, two and three-year-old, made £8; a pen of Jersey cross yearling heifers sold at £5 19/; inferior ditto, £3 10/ to £4 5/. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, which met with a dull sale and prices generally were 2/ to 3/ lower than late rates. Prime heavy fat wethers sold at up to 38/; medium-weight wethers, 34/; medium-weight fat ewes, 24/ to 26/; fat hoggets, up to 28/; store hoggets, 24/; cull, ditto, 13/9. There was a large yarding of both fat and store pigs. Fats sold on a par with previous sale, while stores and weaners advanced in prices. A line of 35 medium baconers on account of a client realised £4 1/. An extra choice line of 40 weaners on account of Tokanui Mental Hospital averaged £1 11/; best baconers, £4 2/ to £4 8/; medium baconers, £3 12/; to £4; heavy porkers, £2 15/ to £3 3/; medium porkers, £2 6/ to £2 10/; choppers, £3 to £4 12/; large stores, £1 15/ to £1 18/; slips, £1 8/ to £1 12/;. weaners, £1 9/ to £1 15/; small weaners, 16/ to 18/.
