The timber striki only operated in the metropolitan area and in so far as the country districts art concerned where the poles are beinf obtained, the men have been working under award conditions and large sup plies have been shipped to various powei boards, county councils and other bodiei in New Zealand all the time. "Competition for pole contracts is exceptionally keen, and it is felt thai if any of your local authorities are ii: the market for further supplies then should be no difficulty in obtaining .deliveries, although it may be necessary to resort to trans-shipment from main ports to out ports such as Wanganui."
