Cattle. —A full yarding of cattle, which ■was practically all sold at late rates. Best fat cows to £14 2/; heavy fat cows, £10 17/6 to £13 17/; light-weight fat cows, £8 16/ to £9 15/; fat heifers, £8 10/ to £10 17/6; light fat heifers, £7 5/ to £8 7/6; forward condition cows, £6 5/ to £7 7/6; store cows, £4 10/ to £6; yearling Jersey cross heifers, £5 17/6; small Jersey cross heifers, £3 1/ to £4 7/6; yearling Jersey bulls, £10 to £14 14/; medium dairy cows, £10 to £11.5/; backward cows, £7 10/ to £9 5/; Shorthorn heifers, £9 15/ to £11 5/; small and backward, £8 to £9 5/. Sheep.—Prime fat wethers, 44/6; fat two-tooth wethers, 34/.
MATIERE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report , having held their usual weekly sale at Matiere, when a fair yarding of sheep and cattle came forward to ?h average attendance of buyers, who came from as far north as Tβ Awamutu. A line of prime • wethers were offered, and although 37/6 was bid, this did not reach the owner's reserve; the consequence was these were passed. Quotations: Two and four-tooth wethers, 32/9; empty. two-tooth ewes, 30/6; good woolly wether hoggets, 27/4; fair shorn wetlter hoggets, 25/6. Four-year-old Friesian bullocks, £10; two-year Jersey steers, £5/1/; yearling Jersey heifers, £5 to £6; yearling Shorthorn heifers, £3 10/ to £4 5/; store cows, £4 to £6 15/; best dairy cows, close to profit, £9 10/ to £11; backward, £6 10/ to £t 15/; best Shorthorn heifers, to £12 10/; others,' £9 10/ to £9 15/; small two-yeai springing heifers, £5 10/, £6 15/, to £7 10/; eighteen-month Shorthorn bulls, to lOgns. Pigs: Fair slips, 21/. OTOROHANGA. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Otorohanga on Wednesday, the 18th instant. Sheep were yarded in small numbers, while cattle pens were fairly well filled. Competition was good throughout at late rates. Quotations: Fat black-faced hoggets, 27/; good m.s. hoggets, 26/2; fat cows, medium, £8 10/, £9, £9 10/; fat bullocks, to £16 10/, for heavy cattle fattened by Mr. W. A. Henderson; fresh conditioned cows, £6 10/, £7, £7 10/; stores, £4 10/, £5 5/, £5 12/6; yearling Jersey heifers, £4/12/6, £5 5/, £5 18/, to £6 12/6. Dairy cows were in keen demand.
