AUCKLAND UNEMPLOYED
INQUIRIES FOR MAYOR.
DEPUTATION TO TOWN HAW».
ANOTHER VISIT TO-MORROW.
A body of the Auckland unemployed attended the Town Hall this morning to j bring before the notice of the Mayor the amount of acute distress in the city and« the need of steps being taken immediately to remedy the position. The deputation learned that the Mayor had been delayed on his way back from Wellington, where he has been on city business, and it was arranged that they should return to the Town Hall to-morrow morning at 11.15 to meet him. Arrangements had previously b§en made to discuss the matter with the Mayor, but he was called away to Wellington, and this morning the deputation was much disappointed to learn that its members will have to wait still another day. The deputation intend to urge that the City Council should at once put works in hand to absorb a number of the Auckland unemployed, many of whom are men with families.
