A feature of the qualifying rounds of •the Auckland Club championship on Saturday was a fine -• card of 10, returned by R. D. Wright. This is an amateur course record. MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB.

The F. S. Ballin Handicap Cup competition commences at Titirangi on Saturday next. The conditions are 18-hole medal handicap, 32 to qualify and thereafter match play. The winner will bold the cup for one year, and wilt receive a miniature. Entries close on Wednesday next with any of the following: The assistant-secretary, One Tree Hill; the house steward, at Titirangi; and (during the absence of the secretary) by Mr. G. M. White, 48, Fort Street. The draw for qualifying round will be published on Friday.

PUPUKE LADIES' CLUB.

The L.G.TJ. monthly medal round was won by Miss G. Williams, 92—21—71. The approaching and putting competition was won by Mrs. Bowden.

There will be a four-ball competition for all players, including C grade, next Wednesday. Partners will be drawn at the clubhouse.

AKARANA LADIES' CLUB.

ROTORUA CLUB.

Considerable interest is being shown in the first annual contest for the New Zealand Veterans' Cup, presented by Mr. F. W. Wilkie, of Rotorua, for competition amongst all members of affiliated clubs who are aged 55 and over, and who have handicaps limited to 20. The game will be played at Rotorua over 86 holes on handicap on Saturday, October 27. The winner will hold the cup' until the next contest and a replica valued at £5 5/ will be presented to him. The entrance fee is 5/ and 4Mtries must be sent to the secretary. Mr. A. W. Shaw, Mokoia Buildings. Rotorua.

SOUTH AUCKLAND TITLE.

WON BX n. BLACK. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, Saturday. In the final of the South Auckland' championship between L. Black (Otorohanga) and A. Stichbury (Wellington), the latter was short with his first and just on in two. Black'B tee shot just went outside, his approach putt ran through, and the hole was halved in four. Black got & fair drive at the second, but Stichbury half topped his drive, and also got a poor second. Black pulled his second into the rough. Black ran his third on to the green, and another half in five was recorded. Black pulled his tee shot at the third hole on to the second fairway, but Stichbury got a nice one slightly to the right. Black's second was just through the green, and Stichbury was nicely on. Black sank a 15-footer, and took the hole in 3—4. Black 1 up. At the fourth hole Black got a nice drive away. Stichbury was in the rough with an awkward lie. He got out moderately well, but Black's iron second finished ten feet from the pin, Stichbury's third being a similar distance away. The latter overran his putt, and Black took the hole, 4—5. Black 2 up. The next two holes were won 4—5 by Black, chiefly owing to weak iron shots by Stichbury. At the long seventh a good approach putt by Stichbury gave him the hole in 5—6. Black took the eighth and ninth holes and was 5 up at the turn. Black continued to hold the advantage between tee and green, winning the match, 8 6. In the final of the St. Andrew's match Otway beat Corbett, 2—l. The pairs best ball bogey handicap was won by J>M. and N. H. Hockin, 8 up. J. Forbes and C. Herrold, 6. Middleton and W. Garland, and W. D. Ross and R. G. Guy tied for second place, 7 up. At the conclusion of the tournament, Dr. H. Douglas,'president of the Hamilton Golf Club, congratulated the winners on their success, and expressed delight that the visitors should have won all the trophies. He trnsted they would return and defend the titles.

GLENDOWIE LADIES' CLUB.
