HAURAKI WEST DRAINAGE BOARDS.
THAMES, this day. The Hauraki West "Drainage Board met yesterday, Mr. C. M. Parlltt presiding. The Lands Department advised that the Minister had improved a subsidy of £600; •it the rate of 10/' in tlio £ on the maintenance portion of the rates levied. --The repairs of Paul's whnrf and Ngatca outr lets were left in the hands of Messrs. Douglas and' McClean. .'. ."' The chairman again introduced the question of expert.advice. He said that before long th"o board would have to adopt a general scheme of drainage for the whole of its area, ana he thought expert opinion should be obtained. Electrical pumps could be used In some places, but in most of the area it would have to be done, by gravitation. After a' discussion it/ was decided that members of .the board should inspect the principal drains and outlets in the board's area, on Saturday, beginning at Pipiroa, with the object of formulating a general scheme.
