AWFUL AVALANCHE.

Crash Of Enormous Mass Of Rock And Earth. KANT HOMES BUSIED. (Australian and N.Z. Presa Association.) LONDON, October 3. A message from Berne, Switzerland, states that a great avalanche crashed into the Arbedo Valley from Monte Arbino. It was accompanied by a noise like that of thunder. Twenty chalets (Swiss cottages) were buried beneath the falling rocks. The number of victim* is not known. Many of the inhabitants of the villages had departed recently as a result of warnings received.
