The spring campaign in the Auckland Province opened to-day, when the Avondale Jockey Club staged its Cup meeting, which will be concluded on Monday. The first two-year-old classic race, the Avondale Stakes, is on to-day's card, while on Dominion Day the Guineas will be decided.
