SALE OF STAMPS.

I write to criticise Mr. Downie Stewart for what he has to say about the sale of stamps. Mr. Stewart proposes to withdraw the commission on the sale of stamps, payment of which was in vogue long before "Coates and Confidence" was heard of. Mr. Stewart said that the person keeping a shop where stamps were sold would be sufficiently remunerated by the trade brought to his shop, but such would not be the case. The custom of being ible to purchase stamps from places other than the post office is very convenient and tvhat is being proposed will surely cause the keeper of shops to discontinue keeping stamps. [ hope the people will raise their voice in protest. j. GEACIE.
