WARATAHS WIN.
TWELVE POINTS OVER MARLBOROUGH.
CROFT'S FOUR TRIES.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Wednesday.
A strong wind marred the game between New South Wales and the Marlborough Rugby representatives to-day. The visitors won by 27 points to 15. With the advantage of the wind and sun in the first spell, New South Wales kept Marlborough on the defence, and principally by brl;:lit passing rushes ran up 17 points, while Marlborough had failed to score at half-time. With a somewhat stronger wind behind them in the next spell the home nlayers took charge, the forwards dominating the play. Apart from two runaway tries, which were converted, the visitors were practically helpless in the face of a solid pack and a heavy wind. Marlborough scored 15 points in this spell. For New South Wales tries were scored by Croft (4), Towers, Abbott and Loudon. Bartley converted three. Devine, Hewitson and Dobson scored tries for Marlborough. Phillips converted one and Devine potted a goal. The visiting backs showed good tactics and speed, but their handling was not | always certain, and the visitors were more frequently penalised than their opponents. WHANGAREI NEWS.
