AUCKLAND GUN CLUB.
The Auckland Gun Club held their opening shoot at Panmure yesterday, there being a large attendance. The first 6even-bird match was divided by J. Benson (17yds), D. Cairns (12yds) and A. H. Pellow (16yd9), with the possible. The chief match for Messrs. John Reid and Co.'s trophy resulted in a very keen contest, J. Benson (18yds), C. E. Hodge (16yds) and F. H. Hazard (14yds) tieing with the possible of 15 kills. They divided the stakes, and shot off for the trophy. Hazard missed the 20th bird and Benson the 23rd, Hodge winning. The special trophy, a shotgun presented by Mr. E. Byers, was'won by H. E. Knight. The last seven-bird match was divided by E. J. Schofield (13yds), B. Grayson (12yds) and H. E. Knight (12yds), with the possible. The double-rise match was won by E. J. Schofield with 8 out of 10 kills. The automatic trap was again in use, and gave the greatest satisfaction.
