The Whangarei branch forwarded a resolution asking the committee to urge upon the Board the necessity for giving preference in tilling vacancies to teachers who, being equally qualified, had taken their share in the work of education' in the back districts. The committee approached the Board upon tbe matter, and was told that special consideration was given to teachers who had served in remote or isolated districts.
