A most extraordinary incident occurr- • ed in the Association match at Gien Parva Barracks recently. The Depot ' were playing Anstey United, and early in the second half a storm broke over '. the ground. A soldier-spectator, sym- . pathising with the Anstey custodian, 1 Foote, lent him his jacket, the better to i withstand the elements, but, unfortu- ] nately, the custodian forgot the hook be- ] hin.l which is used to sustain the sol- ' dier's belt. He was leaning against the < post when the Depot broke away, and : when Footc endeavoured to .get to the J ball he found he was hooked to the net, and before he could extricate himsell a < goal had been scored. n
