BOXING.

In order not to clash with the North--1 era Boxing Association and to give Gault and Sanderson a spell before meeting again, the Auckland xJoxing Club have further postponed their free club night to the 28th inst. Admission is by invitation ticket only, to be obtained from any member of the committee, or .Mr. Teasdalc, tobacconist, Victoria-street. On Monday next the Auckland Amateur Wrestling and Boxing Clubs enter into full possession of their rooms in Klliott-street, the lease of the present occupiers then expiring, and the rooms and gear, will bo available each Monday and Wedne.sday for competitors' practice. Tickets for tho purpose to be obtained from the committee. On Friday next the Auckland Boxing Club expect definite -word from Tim Murphy as to whether he will meet Jim Griffin in Auckland at Christmas. Should the reply be in the negative, it is possible that J. Blackrnore, at present in the South, will be approached. The committee of the Northern Boxing Association have definitely decided to hold a public carnival on Monday, the 19th inst., in the Federal Hall. They have spared no effort on this occasion to present to their patrons a really first-class programme, and hav.e secured excellent material for the respective contests. They intend providing two or three contests with several preliminaries, and the bouts arranged will be of first-class order and have already created widespread interest. In addition the association is providing very valuable trophies for the matches, thereby further ensuring keen competitibn amongst ; the champions engaged, and greater pains to fit themselves for their battles. John McConnell, Australasian champion for 1906, will meet H. McNeil!, champion of the West Coast, in a six round contest. This bont alone is creating a tremendous amount of interest. It will be observed that both men are at the head of their class in the colony. Another star attraction for the same evening is a six round contest between Sanderson and Gault—both champions in the fcatherwejght class. In order to insure further satisfaction both to the competitors and the audience, the association will arrange that the decision in each bout will be given by two judges and a referee, thereby securing a 2 to 1 verdict in each case. The two judges will be stationed apart from one another and hand their dc : cision to a. master of ceremonies, who will in turn announce it. the referee finally deciding. This will undoubtedly prove the more effectual way of satisfying everyone concerned in the respective bouts. The Northern Boxing Association have taken active measures with regard to competitors competing in contests promoted by unaffiliated bodies. The question has been referred to the New Zealand Council for jurisdiction, and a nil; ing on the matter is expected shortly. Probably the council will act as it lias done in other similar cases, and disqualify competitors from taking part in any carnival promoted by an affiliated body throughout New Zealand.
