NETTING IN THE WAIKATO.
By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) . HAMILTON, this day. It was reported in the Anglers' Club that nets were being used in the Waikato River here. Information was given to the police, who seized a net found in use on the river. The nets were ostensibly used to catch mullet, but regulations provide that such are not to be used in any river under the jurisdiction of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society. Trout are reported fairly plentiful here, and varying successes have been met with, but fishing is very difficult owing to the quantity of feed iv the river. It is stated that for the first time for many years whitebait has been seen as far up as this.
