Before Mr. C. C. Kettle, S.M.

The Drunkards.—John Murphy, a second offender, was fined 10/ and 5/ costs. Three first offenders were fined 5/ and costs, and two others 10/ and costs, while another forfeited his bail in default of appearance.

Remanded. — John Dunn, charged with being an incorrigible rogue, in that he had no lawful visible means of support, and had been previously convicted as a rogue and a vagabond, was, on his own application, remanded for a week. Breach of Prohibition. — Wna. Peden pleaded guilty to being drunk, and to the breach of a prolubition order. He was fined 10/ and costs on the first charge, and 20/ and costs on the second. John Hogan, who appeared on two similar charges, pleaded as an excuse that he had fallen off a horse which shied at a tram, and injured his head. He was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. William Francis Geddee a third offending drunkard, pleaded guilty to drunkenness, and to obtaining liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. He was sentenced to 14 days' hard labour. • Illegally on the Premises. — William Thompson, a recent arrival front Wellington, pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness, and to being illegally on the. premises of Alfred Elvers, Stanley B.*y. SubInspector Gordon stated that accused was found with his boots in his hand, creeping towards Evers' house. Thompson was fined 5/ and costs on the charge of drunkenness, and was sentenced to 14 days' hard labour on the second charge. A Sore Horse. —Viggo John Sorenson. charged with having cruelly treated a horse, by working it while it was suffering from sore shoulders, was convicted, and ordered to pay 6/ costsj and come up for sentence if called upon, and prohibited.
