PROFESSOR HOWES DEAD.
i Examiner to N.Z. TJni'-ersity. [ Received 7.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 7. The death ia announced of Professor George Bond Howes, the well-known zoologist, and examiner in zoology and comparative anatomy in the University of New Zealand. [Dr. Howes, who was only 51 years of a<*e at the time of his death, was one of the most distinguished of living workers on his particular field of science. After a long series of other nominations to demonstratorships, assistant-professorships and appointments as examiner, he became in 1595 Professor of Zoology in the Royal College of Science of London. His works included a well-known "Atlas of Practical Elementary Biology" (now revised as an "Atlas of Elementary Zootomy") and numerous zoological papers dealing with Vertebrate morphology.]
