(From our own Correspondent.) This day. Misers' Eights Inquiiy. According to a telegram this morning from the Advertiser's Wellington correspondent, the surreptitious miners' rights matter has been narrowed down to Mess.rs Brissenden and James Mackay, jun. Mr Mackay is here busy squaring accounts with the natives and Europeans, by whom his visit has long been looked forwardto with interest. He proceeds to Mackay town to-day on a similar errand in a specially chartered steamer, and on Tuesday leaves for Wellington to look after his own interest. Agricultural Leases at Ohinemuri. A meeting of Mackaytown residents is to be held to-day on the spot, to discuss the leasing of agricultural land area regulations. Some sharpers want increased areas, but, as Sir George Grey says, the good lands are scarce, and it is desirable to give all a show instead of a few speculators merely.
