GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
Tiif. supreme judicature of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, which holds its annual meetings in the capitals of the various provinces in succession, opens its session tonight in St. Andrew's Church, Alton Road, Hey. Mr Brucc's, at seven o'clock. The very Reveren d, the Moderator, Mr Klmslie, will preach his official sermon, and as he has the reputation of being a very eloquent preacher Aye have no doubt St. Andrew's will present a very crowded auditory. As the heart of every Presbyterian warms up with old and fond associations connected with the name of the " General Assembly," the rare occurrence of a meeting of this Court in Auckland will be invested with unusual interest; and as the present session Avill be signalised by the presentation of various " overtures," having a very important bearing on the organization and future proceedings of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand, great value must attach, in tho eyes of Presbyterians, to the deliberations approaching. To-night, after the Moderator's sermon, the Assembly Avill be constituted and the new moderator chosen, who Avill deliver an address, and the Assembly Avill adjourn probably till Monday, on and after which day the meetings Avill be held in the Provincial Council Chambers, kindly lent to the Assembly for the occasion by his Honor the Superintendent.
