PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH NEWS.
By oversight we neglected to notice the
twelfth number of the Presbyterian Church News issued three days ago. It is sufficient to say that it is equal to its predecessors, and that the success of this periodical ia now acknowledged to be assured. It contains a well-written article on " Assistance from the Homo Churches ;" Rev. Neil McCallum contributes a sermon on " Your Fathers, where are they?" There is a continuation of Rev. Mr. Brace's ai tides on " A Sustentation Fund for the North Island ;" a review article on " Philosophy and Prayer," by a contributor signing <; M. ;" correspondence from New Hebrides and elsewhere, and a large amount of Church news. We are much gratified to learn from a leaderette under the heading of "Ourselves" that there is a cordial recognition of success. This denomination appears to have waked up to the necessity now existing for the press as an auxiliary to the pulpit for the promotion of the objects of every religious organization. That " its circulation has been considerably beyond the expectations formed " is a proof of this, and that the conductors intend to immediately and largely increase its amount of reading matter without any alteration of the price is a tangible evidence that this expression of satisfaction is not pull' but real. That for 3d per copy such a quantity of well-written, instructive, and interesting matter should issue from the press from month to month, shows that this is in verity a labour of love, and not for mercenary objects, and as the new volume begins "with its lirst number on the lirst of next month we trust that every Presbyterian in the province with a drop of true blue Preabyterianisminjhis veins will rally around this banner of the covenant.
