RIFLE PRIZES.
To the Editor of the Evening Stab. Sib,—Many of our Volunteer Riflemen would much like to know whether the magnificent cross-belt presented by Captain Clark, is to bo fired for only by members of the Brigade (a brigade of companies forsooth), or whether all including those of the excluded companies Nos 1 and 5, in command of Captains Howell and Derrom, will be allowed to compete. A great amount of dissatisfaction exists at present in regard to this, for the men of the two companies naturally suppose from the inscription on the shield, that only those of the Brigade will be permitted to fire, whereas the general opinion of outsiders appears to be that Captain Clark intended his munificent present for the encouragement of sharpshooting by all the riflemen. Of course if he did not, nothing further can be said, but it would be satisfactory to know how the matter really stands. 1 am, &c., Long Enfield. [The Belt, as is inscribed upon it, is to be fired for by the Brigade alone. We see nothiug unreasonable in this. —Ed. YE.Sd]
