THE VOLUNTEER CHRONICLE.
There was a good muster of No 2 Company Auckland Naval Volunteers last night at Fort Britomart, under the command of Captain Johnstone. The company met for drill, and went through the preliminary movements with great precision. The men were then formed into line, and placed in charge of Lieutenant Henderson, who marched them past in slow and quick time and in a very satisfactory manner. There was a capital attendance of the Cadets attached to this company, under the immediate supervision of Captain Andrew, who put them through the same evolutions as their elders. At the close of the parade several new members were admitted, and Captain Johnstone announced that a Volunteer Concert and ball will take place at Parnell in aid of the No 1 Company's band fund, and that the general inspection would take place on Wednesday, the 31st instant, at seven p.m. at Fort Britomart. The monthly Government Inspection of the Rifle Brigade, is to be held this evening, at the usual time and place. Every member ia expected to bo present, and to be punctual in his attendance. The Grammar School Volunteer Cadets paraded this morning in the Albert Barracks. There was a good muster, considering that many of the boys are still out of town, and the manoeuvres were were well executed.
